Find things in the prose.
Coins for writers.
Drift is the in-app currency that turns audio fiction into participation. Listeners find treasures hidden inside chapter prose and earn coins. Coins flow back to the writers — 90¢ of every dollar spent reaches the writer's ledger.
Find. Spend. Flow.
Three pieces. The whole loop is small, transparent, and built so the writer keeps the lion's share at every step.
Hidden treasures in the prose
Writers plant treasures inside their chapter text — specific lines that, when selected, drop a few coins into the listener's wallet. Most lines are just prose; the planted ones are quiet rewards for paying attention. Discoverable, not signposted.
Tip writers or unlock chapters
Two spending paths today. Drop coins on a chapter you loved (the writer keeps 90¢ of every dollar-equivalent). Or unlock a single locked chapter — past the free window — for 50 coins. That's equivalent to ~$5 nominal, the same as a Graphene+ month, so the choice between "buy this one chapter" and "subscribe to the whole network" reads cleanly.
90% of every coin reaches the writer
Same split on both spend paths: tips and chapter unlocks both route 90 cents on the dollar into the writer's Stripe Connect earnings ledger. Platform keeps 10. No middlemen, no rev-shared ad placements, no algorithmic black box deciding who gets paid.
Coin bundles.
You don't have to buy coins to use Drift — listeners earn them by finding treasures in the prose. Bundles exist for listeners who want to top up so they can tip generously or unlock a back-catalog chapter without hunting first. The platform absorbs the bulk discount; the writer gets the same 90¢ per coin spent on either side.
Plant the treasures.
Writers mark specific lines in their chapter prose as treasures. The line stays part of the story — there's no extra UI cluttering the page. When a listener selects that exact line, coins drop into their wallet.
You set the difficulty. A treasure in a single-sentence-aside is easy money for the listener; a treasure in a 5,000-word chapter is a reward for genuine engagement. Most writers plant 2-4 per chapter — enough to reward attention, sparse enough to feel like discovery.
Earnings land in your Stripe Connect ledger the same way chapter tips and subscription splits do. Same 90/10 rule. Same one-page earnings dashboard.
